Growing Guide: La Cach

Growing Tips

Also known as: La Cach, Coastal Premna, Headache Tree, Agara, Arani, Vasa

Plant La Cach in full sun and provide sandy, well-draining soil. This fast-growing evergreen fruiting tree thrives in warm climates and can reach approximately 20 ft. tall. Water regularly while establishing, then adjust watering as needed while avoiding waterlogged soil. Prune to maintain a manageable size and encourage a bushy growth habit. Its aromatic leaves can be harvested for culinary use, while its small greenish-white flowers attract pollinators and develop into deep purple berries. Our La Cach is grown from seed and is capable of producing a harvest within the growing season. Outdoors, it is suited to Zones 9–11 with frost protection; in colder climates, it can be grown on a patio or in a greenhouse in Zone 4 and above.
